G.R.A.D. Aggies Professional Development Certificate
Are you looking for a way to spotlight your participation in professional development events? Would you like a certificate to enhance your CV or resume? Now you can earn a G.R.A.D. Aggies Professional Development Certificate (PDC)! The PDC will be offered in three levels: basic, intermediate, and (starting in Fall 2017) advanced. All students desiring to earn a basic and/or intermediate level PDC for this academic year must compile enough Professional Development Units (PDUs) and complete the final reflection/feedback assignments in eCampus. A PDU is earned through participation in the G.R.A.D. Aggies event and completing the associated quiz/assignment for that workshop in eCampus.
Students who meet all requirements for each level will be notified by email before April 30 about which certificate(s) they have earned and will be awarded that certificate at a G.R.A.D. Aggies Awards Ceremony held in May at the end of each academic year.
Certificate Levels and Requirements
Consists of participating in events accumulating 6 Professional Development Units (referred to as PDUs) – each G.R.A.D. Aggies event will be worth anywhere from 1 – 3 PDUs based on the length of the program and the level of engagement required by students.
After each event, log onto eCampus and complete the assignment for the event you attended. Assignments will be available in eCampus for only 1 month after the event has concluded, and must be completed within this time frame in order credit to be received.
Once you have attended 6 PDUs of G.R.A.D. Aggies events and completed the corresponding assignments in eCampus, submit the final comprehensive reflection prompt through eCampus.
Students must complete Basic Level requirements between June 1 and the following April 15 of each academic year.
After completing all requirements for a basic level certificate, students become eligible to complete an intermediate level certificate.
This certificate requires an additional 6 PDUs accumulated after the Basic Certificate is awarded. PDUs are awarded in the same manner as for the Basic Certificate. A student must attend the event and then complete the corresponding assignment in eCampus within one month of attending the event to receive the PDU credit.
Once you have attended 6 PDUs of G.R.A.D. Aggies events and completed the corresponding assignments in eCampus, submit the final comprehensive reflection prompt.
Students must complete Intermediate Level requirements between June 1 and the following April 15 of each academic year.

According to the timeline, it takes a year to complete the Basic Certificate and another year to complete the Intermediate Certificate? How then can I hope to attain the Advanced Level Certificate, if my Master’s program lasts a duration of just 2 years?
Students have a maximum of one year to complete each level. It is possible to complete all requirements for a basic or intermediate level certificate in one semester if desired.
Is there a timeframe for completing each level (basic, intermediate, and advance) PDC?
Students have almost 11 months (June 1- April 15) to complete any one level of PDC. It is possible to complete all requirements for a basic or intermediate level in one semester, if desired. You have the freedom to decide what level of PDC you wish to earn.
What happens to my accumulated credits if I do not complete all requirements for a Basic and/ or Intermediate Certificate by April 15?
Those partial credits will be forfeited; we are unable to carry forward partial credit toward a PDC into the next accounting year (starting June 1).
What is the cost associated with the certificate?
There are no charges or costs associated with the certificate. It is free to all graduate students.
There are some events on the G.R.A.D. Aggies calendar that are Academy for Future Faculty (AFF) events. Would I be able to take an AFF event and have it count towards my AFF certificate as well as my Professional Development Certificate?
Yes, students can attend an Academy for Future Faculty (AFF) event and have it count towards both certificates*. However, please note that there are two separate assignments that will need to be completed for the one event- an assignment for the G.R.A.D. Aggies certificate and an assignment for AFF. *Students are limited to only using 3 AFF events towards their G.R.A.D. Aggies Professional Development Certificate if they are also awarded the AFF Certificate.
