Appealing Suspension or Blocks for Scholastic Deficiency
1) Eligibility to obtain a hearing before the Graduate Appeals Panel (GAP) means that the student seeking a hearing has complied with all prerequisites set forth in Texas A&M Student Rules #59, briefly summarized below. Carefully review Rule #59 in full before pursuing a grievance.
2) First, complete Informal Resolution Procedures:
a) Student shall schedule and attend a meeting (in-person or by phone) with the faculty member (or administrator) who rendered the adverse decision. Student will inform the faculty member (or administrator) of concerns regarding the adverse decision.
b) If student does not receive a satisfactory outcome at the conclusion of the aforementioned meeting, the student may seek review of the decision by the department head (or designee) of the department offering the course.
c) If student does not receive a satisfactory outcome at the conclusion of the department review, the student may seek review of the decision by the dean (or designee) of the college offering the course.
3) If, after completing all required steps in the Informal Resolution Procedures, the student has not received a satisfactory outcome, the student may seek a hearing before the GAP. See instructions here.
