Entertainment

Several outdoor and indoor activities exist to enjoy during your studies here. You can spend free time in our nationally known, state-of-the-art recreational sports complex, 924 acres of local parks, area lakes, golf courses, sport facilities or visiting nearby metropolitan cities. College Station also offers several cultural and entertainment activities to explore.

The Opera and Performing Arts Society (OPAS) has a unique partnership with the University and community, bringing several types of entertainment from Broadway musicals and modern jazz to operas and ballet.

The Wiley Lecture Series, the Jordan Institute and other campus initiatives regularly sponsor appearances by nationally recognized speakers from many fields. The Memorial Student Center (MSC) Visual Arts Committee, J. Wayne Stark University Center Galleries and the MSC Forsyth Center Galleries present various art exhibitions throughout the year.

MSC Town Hall brings bands, comedians and other live entertainment to campus. Aggie Cinema hosts on campus screenings of recent released films, as well as occasional free advance movie previews. Recreational Facilities

The Student Rec Center is a state-of-the-art facility with 400,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor recreation space. The Rec Center contains various cardiovascular equipment, free weights, group fitness classes and personal training options. The Rec Center has eight full-length basketball courts, volleyball courts, two indoor soccer courts, racquetball/handball courts, five dance/activity studios, a three-dimensional rock-climbing wall, a five-lane indoor track, outdoor sand volleyball courts, an outdoor swimming pool and a world-class indoor natatorium. Rec Sports also offers intramural sports teams through the Rec Sports Program.

Reed Arena, completed in 1998, offers a first-class facility for the entertainment, education and business needs of Texas A&M University and the community. Concert and basketball game seating can accommodate expected audiences of 2,500 to 12,500 people.

Kyle Field, consistently ranked by Sporting News as one of the top ten football stadiums in the country, and currently undergoing a $450 million redevelopment, Kyle Field will seat 102,512 for the 2015 football season. Football games at Kyle represent an exciting and fun way to learn Aggie traditions and connect with your fellow students.

Bryan / College Station Community

Location

Texas A&M University is centrally located among three of the nation's largest cities - Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio. College Station, and its neighboring city of Bryan, is a dynamic and growing community with a population of approximately 190,000 people.

As a university town, College Station has a high proportion of professionals and enjoys many of the advantages of a cosmopolitan center without the disadvantages of a congested urban environment. Many students proclaim that with four metropolitan areas within easy driving distance, Bryan/College Station offers you many of the amenities of a metropolitan area in a more relaxed and community-oriented atmosphere.  Mild, sunny winters make the region eminently suitable for year-round activities from fishing and hiking in the beautiful piney woods of eastern Texas to boating, bicycling, and camping in the Texas hill country.
