Howdy!
Happy Graduate and Professional Student Appreciation Week! I hope to see you at some of this week's events.
As we head towards the end of the semester, I wanted to take a moment as Graduate and Professional Student Government (GPSG) President to highlight the upcoming GPSG election.
The GPSG Student Body President (SBP) represents all graduate and professional students to the university and non-university communities. GPSG SBP plays a critical role in ensuring graduate and professional students are being represented to upper university administration when policies are being made.
In a few days (April 10-13), GPSG will conduct their annual elections among the entire graduate and professional student body at Texas A&M. The elections will be conducted online. Every graduate and professional student will receive a personalized user id and password to use when voting. You can visit GPSG’s website to learn about the candidates and make an informed choice. Your voice is essential; exercise it to elect a candidate you think will best represent you.
I also want to share with you that we just wrapped up another successful Student Research Week. Check out the spotlight below to learn more!

Community Spotlight
March was a busy month! Even with spring break, it was a full calendar of events.
Graduate Community of Scholars Dinner & Dialogue
The annual Graduate Community of Scholars Dinner & Dialogue took place on Tuesday, March 21, at the MSC's Bethancourt Ballroom. Over 400 attendees including graduate students, faculty and staff enjoyed a three-course meal, a keynote address, a student panel and table conversation focused on our theme, Outspoken: Leading with Our Aggie Voices. Student Research Week
Student Research Week, the nation's largest student run research symposium, took place from April 20-24 in the MSC. Over 1,400 attendees say poster or oral research presentations by graduate and undergraduate students. Read the story and see a list of prize winners
PD Symposium
The spring 2023 GRAD Aggies Professional Development Symposium was held on Friday, March 10. The all-day event featured sessions presented by the Career Center, CAPS, the University Writing Center and the Grad School. Students could earn up to 6 professional development units toward a PD Certificate.
3MT Cup Presentation
The Grad School presented the 3MT Cup to 2022-2023 winner Chih-Shin Cheng's home department: civil and environmental engineering. CVEN faculty put other departments on notice by pledging to produce the 2023-2024 3MT winner and holding on to the cup next year. See photos from the event

The first week of March is National Graduate and Professional Student Appreciation Week, which recognizes the “contributions, impact and value of graduate and professional students” across the nation’s campuses. Visit the Grad School’s GCoS webpage for information or to register for events throughout the week. Thanks to all our graduate and professional students for all you do for Texas A&M and we look forward to seeing you at events this week!
Graduate and Professional Government elections are this month! Voting opens on March 10 at 9 a.m. Learn more by visiting the elections page on the GPSG website. Your vote matters!

Power of Gratitude
Robert Emmons, the world’s leading scientific expert on gratitude, is a professor of psychology at the University of California, Davis, the founding editor-in-chief of The Journal of Positive Psychology and the author of several books. In this virtual session, he explains how gratitude can heal, energize, and change our lives.

Overcoming Perfectionism
Students will learn the myths and consequences of perfectionistic thinking. Students will also learn strategies to challenge perfectionistic thinking and move towards a more “growth oriented” process style of thinking.
